STAGE PRESENCE is a collection of 74 black & white portraits of stage artists who posed for Hauser’s large format camera, and are captured onto a now extinct Polaroid film. A truly great portrait is considered a revealing and intimate look into the soul of a person. To emphasize this notion, all the participants wrote personal thoughts about their art and themselves, allowing the viewer a rare glimpse into the core of an artist’s psyche. While the photographer set out to pay homage to some of Canada’s great and emerging artists, his book aims to celebrate the importance of all live performances.
